Product Description

Casper is a brand liked by many and endorsed by celebrities like Kylie Jenner, who often post pictures of unboxing their new mattresses on Instagram or YouTube. Recently, Casper has upgraded its product line, introducing mattresses like Casper One with better features.

In case you are interested in their newly launched mattresses, I have previously reviewed Casper Snow Max Hybrid and Casper Dream Hybrid. In my personal opinion the Casper One foam mattress is built to deliver the same level of comfort that you would feel if you loved The Casper and Casper Original mattresses. It comes with features to enhance your comfort factor further up a notch.

Casper One Foam Mattress has a responsive medium-firm feel, making it quite ideal for back and stomach sleepers seeking a relief from back pain at night. It provides a supportive yet comfortable sleep surface owing to its classic 4-layer foam construction, including Align memory foam and Breathe Flex foam.

I’d also like to add that Casper One does well in pressure relief, cradling your body’s pressure points.  It has a balanced bounce when you lie atop it and solid edge support.  What came as a surprise was the fair play of balance between bounce and motion isolation. It exhibits motion isolation, ensuring couples to a restful sleep.

In this mattress review, I’ve enlisted a number of questions about Casper One mattress, and answered them sequentially. Let’s begin.

Q1. What is unique about Casper One Foam Mattress? Does it provide superior cooling, comfort, back support, and pressure relief?

I’ve explained these aspects below in a succinct manner.

Irrespective of the fact that it’s a foam mattress, Casper One Foam Mattress does provide a cooling experience. With its Breath Flex foam and breathable polyurethane foam layers it keeps the bed surface cool and increases airflow.

These materials promote ventilation, keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the night. If you suffer from night sweats but don’t wish to compromise on the comfort of foam mattresses, Casper One can be ‘the one’ for you.

Casper One Foam mattress is undoubtedly a comfortable mattress with a plush yet supportive feel. The combined feel of its Align memory foam and Breathe Flex foam cradles your body, relieving pressure points and allowing you to sink into a cozy embrace. Whether you prefer a soft cushion or firmer support, this mattress strikes a balance that caters to various sleep preferences.

Back Support

How supportive is it for your back and lumbar section?

Firstly, chiropractors and doctors often recommend a medium level firmness for relieving pain in the back or back support. And Casper One is a medium-firm bed.

Its Core support foam provides a sturdy foundation that prevents sinking and promotes proper spinal alignment. This feature is especially beneficial for back sleepers, offering the right level of support to keep your back feeling refreshed and free from discomfort.

Pressure Relief

Its layers of memory foam and responsive foam makes Casper One Foam well-suited to deliver pressure relief.

It has a special type of contouring foam, i.e. its Align memory foam, which cradles your body’s contours, alleviating pressure points and reducing tossing and turning. Whether you’re recovering from a long workout, body aches or simply seeking restful sleep, this bed will help you wake up feeling rejuvenated and pain-free.

Each aspect – cooling, comfort, back support, and pressure relief – makes it a decent option if you are seeking a refreshing and pain-relieving sleep experience.

Q2. How firm is Casper One Foam Mattress?

Casper One falls in the medium to medium-firm range of mattress firmness, a range often advised by chiropractors for back pain relief and back support. On the industrial mattress firmness scale, it is typically rated around 6 out of 10. This means that it can cater well to a wide range of sleep positions.

If you lie down on this bed you’ll experience a supportive yet comfortable feel. This makes it comfortable if you are a back or a stomach sleeper. Because these type of sleepers usually prefer a firmer feel and mild cushioning. So, if you want a tad bit of bounce alongside a supportive surface, this mattress will strike that balance.

Q3. How thick is Casper One Foam Mattress?

Casper One is 11 inches thick, providing a substantial yet manageable profile for a comfortable and supportive sleep experience. This thickness offers ample cushioning and support, making it suitable for various sleep styles and preferences.

In case your demand is a compact mattress profile that fits well in your bedroom, the 11-inch thickness of the Casper One Foam Mattress will be a snug fit.

Q4. Is Casper One Foam Mattress safe?

Yes, it is considered safe. It meets all the rigorous safety standards and certifications, making this bed free from harmful chemicals.

These certifications like CertiPUR-US®,   verifies that the foam used in the mattress is low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and free from ozone depleters, formaldehyde, and other harmful substances. Casper is known for providing safety and quality so you can sleep in peace with your family and pets huddled close.

Pros & Cons

Q1. Who would you recommend Casper One Foam Mattress to?

  • Supportive Medium-Firm Feel: Ideal for back and stomach sleepers who prefer a balanced level of support and comfort.
  • Breathable Foams: Breathe Flex Foam and polyurethane foam layers promote airflow, keeping you cool.
  • Pressure-Relieving Memory Foam: Align Memory Foam cradles your body, reducing pressure points.
  • Edge Support: Prevents roll-off sensation and provides stability, especially beneficial if you are sharing your bed space.
  • Motion Isolation: Reduces sleep disruptions from your partner’s movements, so that you get peaceful sleep.

Q2. Who should avoid Casper One Foam Mattress?

  • Side Sleepers: This firmness level may not provide adequate cushioning to shoulders, hips and pressure points for side sleepers.

Okay, so what do you get to know from a mattress’s firmness level?

Mattress firmness is how you feel when you lie on the mattress surface and how much it gives or sinks under your weight. It’s often rated on an industrial scale (1-10) from soft to firm, with each level offering different benefits and suitability for various sleeping styles.

Suitability for Sleeping Styles

  • Soft (1-3): I would recommend this for side sleepers. This is because it cushions your pressure points like hips and shoulders.
  • Medium (4-6): I find this range of firmness suiting most sleepers. A mattress in this firmness range provides a balance between support and comfort.
  • Firm (7-10): I would suggest back and stomach sleepers to give this firmness level a try. As it maintains spinal alignment and prevents sinking.

In this mattress review I’ll be explaining how well Casper’s ‘One mattress’ will suit you as per your sleeping style.

Casper One Foam Mattress’s Firmness

I’ve rated it around 6 on the firmness scale, making it stand at a medium to medium-firm level. This level strikes a proper balance for various sleeping styles. It provides enough support for back and stomach sleepers, enhances spinal alignment and prevents sinking. All this while still offering a comfortable cushioning for most sleepers.

However, it may not be as ideal for you if you are a side sleeper. Because then you will typically need a softer surface for better pressure relief on your hips and shoulders.

Material & Construction

Q1. What are the unique technology, design, and materials used in the construction of Casper One Foam Mattress?

Casper One has 3 layers of cradling foam to support all the pressure points of your body.

Down below I’ve presented all the layers and materials in a point-wise format.

1. Cozy Cover

It’s a thin, knit-blend material with good stretch and breathability. It doesn’t feature tufting or quilting giving it a sleek appearance.

2. Comfort Layer

This is further broken down into two layers.

  • Top Layer: 1.5 inch Breathe Flex foam to relieve pressure and enhance airflow.
  • Second Layer: 1.5 inch Align memory foam for contouring and pressure relief
  • These two layers work together to create a balanced feel.
  1. Casper Core Support Layer

The third layer is a 7.0 inch support of foam. This layer provides foundational support without coils or springs. It helps to properly distribute your body’s weight all through and maintains spinal alignment.

Materials Used In The Making of Casper One Mattress

Q1. How would you rate Casper One Foam Mattress from a repositioning & responsiveness perspective?

Repositioning in mattresses relates to how easy or difficult it is for you to change sleeping positions during the night without feeling stuck or sinking too deeply into the mattress. A mattress with good repositioning capabilities allows smooth movements and quick adjustments.

In this mattress review, I’ve detailed how well Casper One helps in repositioning.

  • Repositioning in Perspective of Casper One Foam Mattress

To me Casper One has a balanced combination of foams. It repositioning is commendable due to its Breathe Flex Foam and memory foam layers that adapt swiftly to your movements.  This helps in easy repositioning without feeling stuck or hindered.

Responsiveness is how quickly and effectively a mattress can adapt or respond to your repositioning or changes in pressure and your movements. A responsive mattress shows immediate contouring to your body’s shape. This makes you comfortable in your changed sleeping position with ease.

  • Responsiveness in Perspective of Casper One Foam Mattress

From a responsiveness standpoint, I’d say Casper One performs well.  Its foam layers provide adequate contouring to different body shapes and sleeping positions. Particularly its memory foam layer cradles your body’s curves and relieves pressure points. Again it has a support foam layer which helps to maintain spinal alignment and prevents you from sinking into the mattress.

This combination of materials and design elements ensures that the mattress responds effectively to changes in pressure, promoting a comfortable and supportive sleep experience.

Comfort, Back Support, Pressure Relief

Q2. How would you rate Casper One Foam Mattress for providing comfort and pressure relief to sleepers?

I’d say Casper One is pretty comfortable and breathable. With its combined layers of poly foam and memory foam layers it creates a balanced and supportive surface. This helps the mattress to contour to your body’s natural curves.

This allows for a comfortable and cozy sleep experience, regardless of your preferred sleeping position. The knit-blend cover adds to the overall comfort by offering a soft and breathable surface that enhances the mattress’s luxurious feel.

Pressure Relief

In terms of pressure relief, Casper One Foam Mattress provides decent cushioning. It cushions and contours your pressure points and reduces discomfort. The memory foam layer, in particular, cradles sensitive areas like shoulders, hips, and lower back, alleviating pressure and promoting proper spinal alignment.

This is especially beneficial for sleepers who experience joint pain or stiffness, as the mattress helps distribute weight evenly and minimize pressure buildup.

Cooling & Temperature Control

Q3. How would you rate the cooling and overall temperature control characteristics of the Casper One Foam Mattress?

It’s a foam mattress with considerable breathability and coolness on its surface. I’d rate cooling and overall temperature control characteristics positively. Casper One’s combination of breathable foams, like Breathe Flex Foam and polyurethane foam layers, promotes airflow and ventilation throughout its surface.

This design helps dissipate body heat, keeping the mattress surface cool and comfortable for most sleepers. While individual experiences may vary based on personal preferences and environmental factors, the Casper One Foam Mattress is designed to offer effective cooling properties and maintain a temperature-neutral sleep environment.

Motion Isolation and Sharing a Bed

Q4. Does Casper One Foam Mattress provide reasonable motion isolation when sharing a bed with others?

Motion Isolation

I’ll explain this in simple terms. Motion isolation is a mattress’s ability to absorb and minimize the transfer of movement across its surface. This is particularly important for couples or individuals sharing a bed. It reduces disturbances caused by one person’s movements, such as tossing, turning, or getting in and out of bed.

[Note: A mattress with good motion isolation ensures that each sleeper can rest undisturbed. This is even if the other person moves or changes positions frequently.]

Motion Transfer

On the other hand, motion transfer means the degree to which movement on one part of your mattress is felt on another part. A mattress with high motion transfer may transmit movements across its surface, leading to sleep disruptions. If you are a sensitive sleeper or you plan to share your bed with your partner or children, opt for a mattress with decent motion isolation.

  • Casper One Foam Mattress’s Motion Isolation

I’d say Casper One Foam Mattress offers reasonably good motion isolation, thanks to its combination of foam layers. Its memory foam layer, in particular, absorbs movement effectively, preventing it from spreading across the mattress surface.

Now this means that if you/your partner moves or shifts positions during the night, the motion will remain confined to your immediate area and won’t disturb the other sleeper.

This feature makes the Casper One Foam Mattress a good choice for couples who value undisturbed sleep.

Edge Support

Q5. How would you rate the edge support of Casper One Foam Mattress?

Do you like sleeping or sitting near the edges? Then you should heed how well your mattress delivers edge support.

In case of Casper One its edge support is pretty good even when seated directly at the edge of the mattress. With only a 3.5-inch compression when pressure is applied at the edge, the mattress maintains its structural integrity and provides a stable surface for sitting or resting near the perimeter.

This level of edge support is beneficial for individuals who use the edge of the bed for activities such as sitting, getting in and out of bed, or simply maximizing the usable sleep surface.

Recommendation based on sleeping style

In my experience I’ve noticed that most people fail to consider one significant factor while mattress shopping. And this is their unique sleeping style. Everyone has a unique way of sleeping and overall there are 3 distinct types of sleeping preferences observed – side sleepers, back sleepers and stomach sleepers.

Considering Casper One Mattress in this mattress review, I’ll now breakdown how well this mattress will suit you as per your unique sleeping position.

Side Sleepers

While Casper One Foam leans towards a medium-firm to firm profile, it may not be the ideal choice for primary side sleepers who typically benefit from a softer surface for better pressure relief on their hips and shoulders.

So, if you predominantly sleep on your side, you may prefer a mattress with a softer feel to ensure optimal comfort and support.

Back Sleepers

Casper One Foam’s medium firm profile makes it a really good choice for back sleepers. Its medium-firm to firm feel provides the right amount of support to maintain proper spinal alignment. This prevents you from sinking and overall promotes a restful sleep posture for back sleepers.

Stomach Sleepers

Similar to back sleepers, stomach sleepers can benefit from Casper One Foam’s firmness level. It offers a supportive surface that helps prevent excessive sinkage, particularly in the hip area, which is crucial for maintaining a neutral spine alignment while sleeping on your stomach.

In this mattress review, we got to know that Casper One Foam Mattress caters well to back and stomach sleepers. These individuals usually prefer a firmer mattress with less give.

However, if you prefer a softer feel or are a primary side sleeper, exploring Casper’s softer options like the Dream Hybrid and Dream Max Hybrid mattresses may better suit your sleep preferences.

[Keep Note: Monitor your budget while mattress shopping. Mattress prices vary throughout the year depending on discounts and brand offers on major days like Memorial Day, President’s Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, and Christmas-New Year.]
