Material & Construction

Q1. Can you guide us through the construction of the Simmons Hybrid Mattress?

The Simmons Hybrid mattress features individually wrapped coils for support and a thin breathable cover for more excellent airflow. The height of the Simmons Hybrid mattresses differs according to the various firmness options. The Medium version is 10-inches high, and the Plush version is 12-inches in height.

Detailed construction of the Simmons Hybrid mattress:

  • Cover: The cover is made up of think breathable material with a bit of quilted foam for more softness.
  • Comfort Layer: This layer lies beneath the cover. It is made up to gel memory foam that offers enhanced pressure relief. The gel infusion dissipates heat to help you sleep cool.
  • Support Layer: This is the bottom-most layer of the Simmons Hybrid mattress. It is made up of individually wrapped coils. The support layer provides overall support to the bed and prevents extra sinkage. The coils also allow for greater airflow through the mattress to help you sleep cool.

The Simmons Hybrid mattress offers a more innerspring-like feel while sleeping on it. The individually wrapped coils make this mattress quite bouncy and responsive. You should get a more “sleeping on top” of the bed feel rather than sinking too deep into it.

Comfort, Back Support, Pressure Relief

Based on personal reviews, here’s how the Simmons Hybrid Mattress performs on the bases of Pressure Relief, Responsiveness, Cooling, Motion Isolation, Edge Support:

Being a hybrid mattress, the Simmons Hybrid mattresses feel slightly firmer than the Memory Foam variants. This mattress is available in two firmness options: Medium Firm and Plush. The Medium Firm variant rates 5 out of 10, and the Plush mattress rates 8 (with 0 being the firmest and 10 being the plushest). The Simmons Hybrid mattress offers a balanced feel of support and comfort. The coil layer at the base keeps your body well supported. The foam tufted in the cover provides a slow-moving feel and some contouring to relieve the pressure.

Cooling & Temperature Control

The individually wrapped coils in the Simmons Hybrid mattress allow for more excellent airflow through the bed. Additionally, the Medium and Plush versions have gel infusions in the foam layers for further cooling effect. The cover of this bed is also breathable.

Motion Isolation and Sharing a Bed

The Simmons Hybrid is a bouncier mattress. It does not eliminate motion transfer. However, the Medium and Push versions have a foam layer to absorb some motion.

Edge Support

The Simmons Hybrid mattresses do not offer ideal edge support. The sides of the bed may sink in to some extent when pressure is applied. However, the coils at the base do perform to offer some support.

Recommendation based on sleeping style

Q1. Which sleeping position is ideal for the Simmons Hybrid mattress?

Here’s a list of how each sleeping position would feel on the Simmons Hybrid mattress.

  • Side Sleepers: Side Sleepers require a softer mattress that allows the shoulders and hips of the sleepers to sink into the bed, reducing the chances of pressure build-up. The Plush version of the Simmons Hybrid mattress is a good fit for the average to lightweight side sleepers. Its all-foam layer on the cover offers some cushioning. The coils provide the best balance of support and comfort. The Medium version is best suited for heavier sleepers.
  • Back Sleepers: Back sleepers require a supportive mattress that provides good spinal alignment. The Medium and Firm version of the Simmons Hybrid mattress is a good fit for the back sleepers. They shall experience the required support and some plushness near the hips. The Medium version might suit most of the back sleepers quite well. Lightweight sleepers might find the Plush variant comfortable as well.
  • Stomach Sleeper: The stomach sleepers require a firmer mattress that prevents their spine from bending uncomfortably. We recommend the average to lightweight sleepers to go for the Medium version of the Simmons Hybrid mattress for more support and comfort. Heavier folks may sink into the Medium version a bit more.
